  Can You Feel The Love?

  just heard of an experience that proves what i have thought all along about the unique type of love in the jdubya religion.. an elderly, handicapped jdubya acquaintance was traveling alone through the mid-west recently and found themselves stranded in denver, colorado due to dangerous road conditions.

  not knowing anyone, and having no way to get from place to place on their own they made a number of phone calls.

  finally they were able to get in contact with an oh so christian "sister" who had with her husband spent many decades in bethel.

  As a single person I've lost count of how many times I was treated as a third wheel and discriminated against. It led to my being even more of a loner and introvert, who needs that ! Then you get the odd sympathetic person how tells you how you should be living your life. One elder told me I'd get more respect from members if I reached out and did more. I was then doing 12+ hours and running my own business and making most meetings. I eventually burnt out and became suicidal. Thanks a lot, feel the love !

  The Demons were messing with me last night!

  so said my pops one morning.

  we were visiting my sister in eastern tennessee and the night before after everyone else went to bed pops was watching tv when all of a sudden and completely on it's own the tv changed to the tonight show, holy smokes!!

  must be demons cause pops didn't change it!

  In 2008 at the heights of my depression before the stock market crash I had a self centered useless investment advisor that had coaxed me into shale natural gas exploration for a huge bank sponsored commission. My brother and I got close to a 10 bagger with another related one initially it but I was then a heavily indoctrinated JW when all this happened. I somehow thought that the gain was worldly and greedy ( I know, yes stupid is an understatement ) and didn't know what to do. I asked her to come explain the play to us buy she never did have time to come around as things happened real fast in summer early fall and my brother was blinded by the gain, thought it was blue sky going forward.

  Well what happened one night is I woke up with a jolt around 1 or 2 in the morning and had just realized that I had to cash out of everything and get to the side lines fast, was just a huge gut feeling as I'm sort of an HSP ( highly sensitive person ) As I tried to get up to think things through and pull my statement and write down some notes to face my manipulative arrogant " investment counselor" I was pinned to my bed, all limbs and body paralyzed. I could barely move my head and felt so exhausted ( as I was suffering for overwork burnout trying to rune my own business and toe the JW line making everyone happy trying to be good at everything ) that I passed out back to sleep. The next morning I hardly remembered any of it and thought I must be overreacting. Took a few weeks until I realized what happened and I though it must have been a supernatural cause, not. By them my portfolio had tanked another 10% and would eventually loose all and even more of any previous gains. Can you say greenhorn ?

  Looking forward to it, the Spanish guy vid talking about new light from the GB is classic ! I must of watched it two dozen times and it still cracks me up ! "we were half baked when we wrote that stuff" hahaha !!

  What Rosemarie is getting at I think is Kingdom hope through Christ Jesus as high priest in the pattern of Melchizedek. Jordly.com also has a similar stance. Then again we are all free to believe whatever we like, so I prefer to stay as close to the Bible as possible, my choice. I don't force my views on anyone and as she said these are things you have to research and decide for yourself. Christian freedom.

  $10 per pub. Money begging session last night

  last night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.

  elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).

  he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

  Will probably get some down votes but I always pay my way in anything I do, just fair play. I have no issues paying $10 a day that goes towards covering expenses. But now that I no longer support the WTBTS in any way shape or form they get none of it, simple. But the underhanded income - deficit statements they would announce always struck me as manipulative because well, they are.

  I enjoyed the third edition ( only one I read ) That said I find he could of done a better job bringing it up to date ass there are some passages that seem stuck in a time warp. Nonetheless a very good source of information well presented factually. A must read for deprogramming.

  have you heard that old chestnut?

  i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.

  they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..

  I've mentioned this here before and I find it quite typical now that I'm up to speed on all things JW and TTATT.

  Met a DF'ed bro through some friends say 20 years ago and the bro ( long back in for family and money in the pipe ) was astounded that a single then thirty something male didn't have a revolving carousel of loose women in and out of his house, that I didn't hit the strip clubs on aregular basis, that I had sound finances through hard honest work and not get rich quick schemes and that I was alcohol and drug free and had high moral standards all whilst being a generally good person with some Bible based knowledge.

  this is in response to the thread about the supposed suicide of a bethelite in 1995.. when i went to bethel i and everyone else, signed a form stating that "if we died while at bethel the wathtower bible and tract society,had the right to keep our body.".

  yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty years old you didn't think much about stuff like that.

  besides we were never going to die anyway.

  there were other people who either killed themselves or tried to kill themselves while they were at "the house of god.

  one person who did kill himself was richard wheelock, press room overseer ......he jumped out of a window at the watchtower farm one day.

  it seemed, he was never quite the same after his wife "willy" died.

  A possible reason why the GB are becoming more demanding as things worsen

  basically because they feel they are not being blessed.. this is not to say that all gb members feel this way.

  the power hungry ones love getting the whip out.

  the other members incorrectly look to the old testament for answers.. they are telling the sheep to be faithful, dedicated, self sacrificing, serving to the fullest, whole hearted and obedient.

  Great thread OP and thank-you DJS for your valuable insight. I have always felt the same way but could not articulate it as well. The next few months years shall be interesting in WT land.
